Final Nine to Go For $8.5 Million Top Prize at
The final table is set for the main event of the 2012 World Series
of Poker. The final nine players will take a break and come back
on October 28th and play for the $8.5 million dollar top prize.
Eight of the nine players at the final table are Americans with
the lone exception being Andras Koroknai of Hungary. Professional
poker player Jesse Sylvia leads the final table with a chip stack
of almost 44 million. There are five poker pros in the final nine
including the top three in terms of chip stacks. Following Sylvia
in second place with just over 29 million chips is professional
poker player Andras Koroknai. Greg Merson who is also a poker pro
is third in chips with almost 29 million.
Rounding out the final nine are Russell Thomas who has almost 25
million chips, Steven Gee with almost 19 million, Michael Esposito
who has just over 16 million, Robert Salaburu at just over 15 million,
Jacob Balsiger at just over 13 million and Jeremy Ausmus at almost
The 2012 World Series of Poker main event began on July 7th as
6,598 entrants put up the $10,000 entry fee. The top prize will
be more than $8.5 million with the top seven finishers guaranteed
to win at least $1 million dollars.
